A Little Salty You Didn't Call Me Espresso

This week I’m focusing on what combinations I can make with Sabrina Carpenter’s Me Espresso perfume. I already paired it with Sabrina’s Sweet Tooth and wrote a small review on Me Espresso on its own, and also combined it with Sweet Tooth, on Threads.

Today I’m going to be pairing Me Espresso with Kayali’s Vanilla Royale 🍨

[How I choose which perfumes to layer:

I look up all of the notes of each fragrance on Fragrantica.com. From there, as you can see below, I write them on a sticky note and place them on my wall. Since my nose can't pick up every note, and I'm not able to distinguish notes and scents by what they truly are (as you read along, you'll understand, I describe what I can smell by things I have either tasted or what I can picture in my head), this helps.]

All similar notes are highlighted.

I chose Vanilla Royale to pair with this because I try to layer based on fragrances that have at least 3-4 similar notes. Now, yes, all the other notes are vastly different, but the are some similarities, and the only way to find out if this works is to try.

1st few moments of initial dry down:

I could immediately smell the caramel in Me Espresso. I realized I had smelled this before, but couldn't pinpoint what it was, it just smelled “salty” to me, but a good kind of salty. Mixing these two fragrances easily brought out the caramel smell, which I didn't realize was a note already in there, until after reviewing the sticky notes. 🍮

So, for the initial dry down of this fragrance combo, this smells like what people WANT Bon Bon to smell like. I’ve smelled Bon Bon and I strongly dislike it. This smells similar to it but better. 😅🙃😍

It’s warm but sweet. The smell in my nose feels warm. I can see like a hot drink. Maybe like a coffee with caramel creamer in it.

I really like it so far ☺️😍

(side note: sometimes when I smell it I picture pumpkins, but it could also be that I equate caramel with the fall time so idk if pumpkin has anything to truly do with it 🙃)

It does remind A LOT of the fall 🍂🍁 so this might be a good fall fragrance combo

After about an hour:

The sweetness started to kick in, but it's not overpowering. It’s light. It’s like adding one packet of sugar to your coffee. It reminds me a lot of the fall time. I’m definitely going to wear this combination in the fall. I also picture a cabin up in the mountains and some snow when I smell it. So it is also nice for the winter. I really enjoy it. It feels so warm and cozy ☕️🩵🍮

EOD Thoughts & Longevity:

Longevity:

It will definitely get you through the majority of the day, but the smell lightens as time goes on. The peak was definitely around hours 1-4. By hours 5 and 6, the scent combo was still there, just very, very light. I noticed, though, as it got lighter, I feel like I was smelling a little bit 🤏🏾 of the white floral (I think).

I forgot to add: for lotion, I did use the TreeHut Vanilla body butter. So that definitely plays a part in the vibes and smell the combination gives off. I did have my space heater going, and I was sitting in front of it, bringing the combo to life even more, and I loved it 🥹

Note: People smell grape soda with Me Espresso… I don’t 🤷🏾‍♀️ but that goes to show everyone’s nose is different ☺️
